Digital Photography and Adobe Photoshop course in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury and West Midlands areas.

Combining photoshop and photography into one course. This three day photography course will introduce you to your digital camera, explaining all the exposure modes and technical jargon as well as showing you how to take better photographs. You will then learn how to process and edit your photographs with Adobe Photoshop.

Day 1 - Photography
Day 2 - Photography and introduction to Adobe Photoshop
Day 3 - Image editing and image enhancement with Adobe Photoshop

Day 3 is optional and this course can be booked as a 2 day course if preferred.

Introduction to Digital Photography & Adobe Photoshop - course summary

Digital Photography & Photoshop course duration: 2 or 3 days
Level: Beginners
Software: Photoshop CC, Photoshop CS6, Photoshop CS5, Photoshop CS4, Photoshop CS3.

Who is the course aimed at ?
This course is available to anyone who wants to learn more about their digital SLR camera and how to work with their photographs in Adobe Photoshop. However, the course is mainly aimed at people working in a marketing or promotional role, who need to be able to take good photographs and then correctly prepare and edit those photographs for use in publications (e.g. printed documents or web pages).

What equipment will I need ?
A digital SLR camera
Adobe Photoshop

Course requirements :
You should have good general computer skills.

Numbers:
One to one or small group of up to 4 trainees.
Trainees in a group should have the same skill level and the same requirements.

Locations:
On-site training at client's premises (office or home) in Birmingham and Midlands areas.

Day 1 - Photography

Setting up your camera
Using the Automatic exposure modes
Controlling exposure using Manual and Semi-automatic modes
How ISO works and how it affects your pictures
Accurate focusing
Colour temperature


Day 2 - Photography and introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Photography - morning
Colour modes, resolution, pixels, image size, file formats
Rules for good composition

Adobe Photoshop introduction - afternoon
Photoshop basics - interface and the main tools and palettes
Image colour adjustment and brightness/contrast adjustment
Cropping & rotating images
Image resizing & resolution
Image file formats

 

Day 3 - Image editing and image enhancement with Adobe Photoshop

Using the Selection tools
Using Layers and Layer Masks
Colours, painting tools and retouching tools
Adding text to an image

Image enhancement and colour adjustment
Colour correction and colour adjustment, including adjusting selected areas of an image
Using the colour adjustment tools, including Levels, Hue/Saturation, Curves and Selective Colour
Setting white or black areas of an image to pure white or pure black
Create a tinted (e.g. sepia) image
Create a faded image to use behind text
Filters - including Unsharp Mask and Gaussian Blur

Photo retouching and image editing
Removing red eye
Retouching and removing small unwanted areas from an image
Fading out an image to an area of solid colour
Cutting out an image and changing the background
Adding drop shadow or other effects to a layer

Saving and preparing files for different uses
Converting between different colour modes (RGB to CMYK or Grayscale)
Checking colours for printing (Gamut Warning)
Saving images in correct size and file format ready for either DTP or web use
