Adobe Photoshop beginners course for Image Editing and Design.

This beginners Photoshop course is an introduction to the basics of image editing and design with Adobe Photoshop, including image resizing, resolution, colour correction, using type and colours, and creating basic designs.

This Photoshop course is designed to provide familiarity with the interface and tools while covering basic techniques of image editing and design which are important to understand before moving on to more advanced image editing and design techniques such as web graphics or photo montage.

You will learn to find you way around the software, learn some basic photo editing and design skills, and learn how to correctly prepare your images for different uses, such as print documents or web pages.

Who is the course aimed at ?
This course is aimed at those who currently have little or no photo editing skills, and want to learn the basics of Photoshop.

Course requirements :
You should have good general computer skills.
Some previous knowledge of design or image editing software would be helpful, but not essential.

Numbers: One to one or small group of up to 4 trainees.
Trainees in a group should have the same skill level and the same requirements.

Locations:
On-site training at client's premises (office or home) in Birmingham and Midlands areas and around the UK.

Photoshop basics - interface, tools and palettes
The Adobe Photoshop environment, and finding your way around Photoshop
Using the tools and changing tool options
Using the palettes: Layers, History, Info, etc.
Keyboard shortcuts for navigation and zoom

Cropping and Rotating
Cropping images to remove unwanted areas
Rotating or Flipping an image

Selection Tools
Using the different selection tools - Lasso, Marquee, Magic Wand & Quick Selection Tool
Making a selection around an object
Adding or subtracting areas from the selection
Modifying selections - transform selection tool, expand, contract, feather
Selecting an area of an image based on its' colour, and modifying that area
Editing, moving or copying a selected image area
Removing or changing the area surounding a selected object

Layers
Working with layers: organising, naming and deleting layers
Combining photographs and text in separate Layers
Modifying the content of a layer, moving layer content, editing or erasing areas
Add a drop shadow and emboss effects to an item on a layer

Text
Creating normal text and artistic text, setting text properties and choosing colours

Using Levels to adjust brightness/contrast of an image

Create a tinted (e.g. sepia) image
