Adobe Photoshop Beginners & Intermediate Course
Two day Adobe Photoshop beginners and intermediate course - introduction to image editing and design, begins with an introduction to the basics of Adobe Photoshop, including image resizing, resolution, colour correction, using type and colours, and creating basic designs. It will then move on to intermediate Photoshop and more image editing and design techniques, including image cut-outs, using Layer Masks, and batch processing images with Actions.
You will learn to find your way around the software, discover a range of photo editing and design techniques and learn how to prepare images and artwork for use in print documents or web pages.

Who is the course aimed at ?
This course is aimed at those who currently have little or no Photoshop skills, and want to learn the basics of Photoshop as well as learning about photo editing and design techniques.
You should have good general computer skills.
Some previous knowledge of design or image editing software would be helpful, but not essential.
One to one or small group of up to 4 trainees.
Trainees in a group should have the same skill level and the same requirements.

Day 1 - Beginners introduction to Adobe Photoshop
Introducing the Adobe Photoshop environment
Using the tools and changing tool options
Using the palettes: Layers, History, Info, etc.
Keyboard shortcuts for navigation and zoom
Cropping and Rotating
Cropping images to remove unwanted areas
Rotating or flipping an image
Using the selection tools: Lasso, Marquee, Magic Wand & Quick Selection Tool
Making a selection around an object
Adding or subtracting areas from the selection
Modifying selections: Transform Selection Tool, Expand, Contract, Feather
Selecting an area based on its colour, and modifying that area
Editing, moving or copying a selected image area
Removing or changing the area surrounding a selected object
Working with layers: organising, naming and deleting layers
Combine photographs and text in separate layers
Modifying the content of a layer, moving layer content, editing or erasing areas
Add a drop shadow and other effects to an item on a layer

Colour Correction and Colour Adjustment
Using the colour adjustment tools, including Levels, Hue/Saturation, Curves and Selective Colour
Remove a colour cast and adjust image colours
Using Adjustment Layers to modify colours
Adjusting selected areas of an image
Setting white or black areas of an image to pure white or pure black
Create a faded image to use behind text
Making complex selections around image areas
Saving selections and editing selections
Copying selected image areas to other documents
Copying layers to other open documents
Using and editing Layer Masks
Using opacity and layer blending modes to obtain different effects when montaging
Filling text with a texture or photograph
Fading out an image to an area of solid colour
Create vignettes and borders around images
Importing artwork or graphics into Photoshop from Illustrator
Create designs, such as a simple web site banner or poster design
Cutting out an image and changing the background
